Since 1960, Gilco has specialised in preserving herring and matjes-herring (or young herring). But that’s not all. We are also at the forefront of taste innovation in everything to do with herring. Where in the past, we have always emphasised quality, we now added creativity to this. For example, in addition to the “normal” rollmops and matjes-herring, we have successfully launched a wide range of product varieties on the market.
Seagull has roots going back to 1859, with a factory in the historic center of the famous city of Bruges.It remains one of the last traditional fish smokehouses in the area and has become a modern factory exceeding 2000m2 of production space.The company is strategically located in Bruges, on the border of the fishing routes between northern & southern Europe.Seagull is specialized in making healthy & sustainable (pelagic) smoked fish products.

The herring, where it all started 80 years ago, is still produced in the traditional way in our own factory and is loved by young and old.
In our shops, you will find a magnificent range of fresh fish, brought in daily. Frozen fish, too, with our extensive range of prawns and scampi, imported directly from Vietnam and Bangladesh, as a speciality. Crustaceans and shellfish, mussels, oysters, lobsters, langoustines and shrimps... all of superior quality.
